Kololo Game Reserve
Malaria-free, child-friendly, Fair Trade Certified and home to a wide variety of wildlife, Kololo Game Reserve is a private concession, partially integrated into the Welgevonden Game Reserve. A private gate gives entry into the Welgevonden Game Reserve, providing the Big 5 experience, while Kololo’s private concession is only home to smaller, safer game species, allowing guests to freely explore the reserve and enjoy the hiking and cycling activities on offer. A swimming pool and restaurant complete the lodge offerings, making it the perfect destination for a family safari.
Kololo offers upmarket accommodation in 2, 4 and 6 sleeper chalets, as well as an exclusive deluxe 6-sleeper villa. Each chalet is equipped with a well-appointed kitchen, a private terrace, braai/barbeque facilities, private living spaces, telephone and Wi-Fi. In addition, the deluxe villa boasts its own private swimming pool and traditional boma.
A wheelchair friendly 2-sleeper chalet is available, as Kololo believes that safaris should be accessible for everyone. Completely wheelchair accessible, the chalet is centrally located next to the restaurant and swimming pool, both accessible via illuminated, concrete paths. Game drive vehicles are easily accessed by a ramp, ensuring an adventure-filled stay for all guests, irrespective of physical ability.
Restaurant and Main Lodge
Kololo’s restaurant, lounge and bar area encourages guests to unwind with a book in front of the fireplace or share game sighting experiences with other guests over a drink on the viewing deck. Drinks and snacks may be ordered poolside, with sun loungers and parasols provided for comfort.
Kololo’s restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the lodge will gladly cater to guests’ special dietary requirements, provided they are informed in advance.
As the Kololo Game Reserve’s private concession is integrated into Welgevonden Game Reserve, Kololo has unlimited access for Big 5 game drives and safari walks (subject to availability and an additional charge).
Within the Kololo private concession, activities on offer include guided walks, game drives, night drives, children’s safari programs, walking and mountain biking. Outside of the reserve, there are opportunities for cultural excursions, visits to wildlife centres and golfing. All activities are subject to availability and may incur an additional fee.
