This vegetation supports the natural habitat of impala, kudu, blue wildebeest and klipspringer, and indigenous grass species include goose, heather-topped and signal grasses.
The rich rivers that run through the reserve attract many water birds, the Nile crocodile, and the hippopotamus, and make ideal hunting grounds for the resident and lethal black mamba and Mozambique Spitting Cobra.
The savanna is also home to the giraffe, zebra and African porcupine, and of course – the African Big 5!
