01 — Overview
The safari lodge
This intimate lodge takes its name from the Sesotho word for ‘beauty’. At Bontle Lodge, you are surrounded by natural beauty outdoors and contemporary classic design indoors. Built among the mature trees and gently rolling hills that are home to the Big 5 (as well as pangolin, aardvark, aardwolf and brown hyena), Bontle takes care of all your creature comforts with a heated swimming, air conditioning and snuggly electric blankets.
The staff at Bontle pride themselves on running a flexible schedule around activities and mealtimes so you can decide what will work for the day. Between game drives, you can head to the heated swimming pool, browse the boutique or be soothed and spoilt with an in-room spa treatment (extra cost). The lodge has a traditional thatched roof with modern interiors.

Bontle is small and private, with just five rooms sleeping 10 guests. All beds can be configured as twins or doubles. It is ideal for groups or larger families to take on an exclusive-use basis or for couples or honeymooners who want a more intimate experience.

Safari experiences
Welgevonden is a prime Big 5 game reserve and there are good chances of seeing elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo while out on dawn and dusk game drives when the animals are most active.
