Best Time to Visit
Climate & Weather
The Waterberg's climate is generally described as warm and temperate, with three distinct seasons. Welgevonden is entirely malaria free, making it accessible year-round for safari visitors.
Summer (November – March)
Warm to hot with afternoon thunderstorms. Lush green landscapes and excellent bird watching. Wildlife is abundant but can be harder to spot in dense vegetation. Peak holiday season over December/January.
Autumn (April – May)
Mild temperatures and diminishing rainfall. The bush begins to thin, improving visibility for game viewing. An excellent shoulder season with fewer visitors.
Winter (June – August)
Dry, cool days and cold nights. The best season for game viewing as animals congregate around water sources and vegetation is sparse. Peak safari season.
Spring (September – October)
Warming temperatures and the first rains. Newborn animals appear and migratory birds return. Beautiful wildflower displays in the Waterberg.
